An event dedicated to the anniversary of the Foundation was held: "10 years dedicated to the sustainable development of Kyrgyzstan".

On March 31, a press conference took place at the "Supara" ethnic complex to provide an overview of the 10-year activities of the International Public Foundation "Roza Otunbaeva Initiative".


The event was attended by journalists, long-term partners of the Foundation and representatives of state bodies. During the briefing, the Executive Director of the Foundation "Roza Otunbaeva Initiative" Dogdurgiul Kendirbaeva gave a presentation titled "10 years of sustainable development of Kyrgyzstan".


In her presentation, Nurzida Kasymova, Head of the Department of Pre-school Education and School Preparation of the Ministry of Education and Science, noted that the Foundation has made a great contribution to the development of early childhood in the country for many years and expressed her gratitude for the work. In January 2012, the Roza Otunbaeva Initiative International Public Foundation was established. Last year was a jubilee year for the Foundation and we would like to summarize certain results.


Over the years, we have accomplished considerable and important work that aims to:

·       Promote human development, increase civic participation, and strengthen civil society;

·       Implement educational, cultural, environmental, and charitable programs and projects;

·       Support peace-building initiatives and expand the network of international political, economic, and humanitarian cooperation.

Numerous initiatives and projects of the Foundation are aimed at people of all ages, from children to adults, including residents of the city and remote regions of the country, as well as educational, cultural, and medical institutions such as kindergartens, schools, universities, museums, theaters, and libraries.


Here are some specific examples of our achievements:

·       Every year, we open more than 100 development centers in Jailoo, which are located at an altitude of 2,000 meters above sea level, for the children of cattle breeders. Currently, we have 588 centers.

·       Last year, 16,573 children and more than 6,000 parents attended the summer development centers in Jailoo.

·       Our Mobile Development Center has been working in eight residential areas of the capital, reaching more than 6,500 people.

·       We provide child development information to more than 50,000 subscribers on social networks and the Foundation's website.

·       We organized training sessions for over 100 kindergarten teachers to study international experience.

·       We hosted more than 100 events featuring famous personalities from Kyrgyzstan reading books to children.

·       Overall, we are proud of the work we have done and the impact we have made on the lives of people in Kyrgyzstan.


In the field of culture and education:

·       Seven large-scale two-day citywide Education Festivals are organized annually, with the participation of over 100 educational organizations. These festivals host dozens of educational, interactive, and discussion platforms, attracting over 100,000 guests.

·       We have successfully conducted annual winter, spring, and summer STEM schools for the past 7 years. These schools aim to encourage high school girls to pursue careers in engineering. We strive to attract as many girls as possible to these programs.

·       Our STEM mentoring program has involved 2,772 high school girls and 217 female mentors. This program has provided valuable guidance and support to encourage girls' participation in STEM fields.

·       We have organized 73 training workshops, along with 23 roundtables and meetings, focusing on optimizing school nutrition in Kyrgyzstan.

·       We have organized more than 40 poetry evenings, featuring 92 poets, which were attended by over 13,000 people.

·       We have arranged 50 interactive lectures and concerts for more than 10,000 children and residents of the capital.

·       Our exhibitions and expositions have attracted over 50,000 visitors, with more than 10 exhibitions organized.

·       We have conducted 54 master classes and 2 art camps for children and teenagers, providing them with opportunities for artistic development.

·       Our initiative to train people over the age of 50 in mobile technology skills has successfully trained 3,000 individuals, empowering them with valuable digital skills.


Work in the field of migration:

·       Four "Compatriots" Forums for compatriots from all over the world.

·       1,308 participants from 24 countries, including 155 speakers.

·       Three compilations of best practices highlighting the contributions of compatriots and the diaspora to the development of Kyrgyzstan have been published.

·       In November 2018, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic signed a Decree "On the Council for Relations with Compatriots Abroad under the President of the Kyrgyz Republic."

·       Eight Strategies for Local Development considering gender and migration have been developed for rural communities.

·       Over 5,000 individuals have increased their awareness of safe migration.


In the field of ecology:

·       Over 40,000 seedlings have been planted on the premises of 95 educational organizations.

·       6,500 fruit trees have been planted in rural schools as part of nutrition optimization efforts.

·       Over 30 large-scale eco-actions have been organized.

·       More than 40 ecology lectures have been conducted for teachers from schools and educators from kindergartens in the capital.

·       Over 60 meetings on environmental education have been organized for school students.


Another priority of the Foundation is the publication of books.


The "Lives of Remarkable People" series includes the following titles: Mahatma Gandhi "Life Experience, or a Narrative of the Pursuit of Truth"; Winston Churchill "Never Give Up"; Mao Mao (Deng Rong) "My Father Den Xiaoping"; Xi Jinping "State Management" John F. Kennedy "Profiles of Courage"; Mohammed ibn Rashid al-Maktoum's "Flashes of Thought"; Willy Brandt "Democratic Socialism" Articles and Speech; "The Power of Fragility and Strength of Art" about women in Kyrgyz filmmaking; "Mothers and Daughters" catalog about the dynasties of women artists and craftswomen of Kyrgyzstan.


Books for children: "Manas in Drawings"; "Lightning that Stuns Mountains”; "Ballerina," "The secret of Unity"; "Visiting My Friends," "Fairing for children"; "We Go to School"; "Discovering Our Kyrgyzstan"; "Manas" Kyrgyz Epic in Pictures; "Exploring Our Kyrgyzstan"; "Aiman. The First Violin"; "The Magic Voice of Ismail"; "Muratbek and His Journey to Music"; "Juristanbek who did not become a jurist"; "From Pele to Murzaev"; "The Girl’s book"; "China Today" from the series "Chinese Folk Tales".


A Parent's Guide to Raising Children: Masaru Ibuka's book "It's Too Late After Three"; "Preparing for School" The book "It's Too Late After Three" in the Kyrgyz language has become an essential book for thousands of families in Kyrgyzstan, both in urban and rural areas.


It is worth mentioning that the book "Manas in Drawings" (in Kyrgyz, Russian, and German) won the Grand Prix in the International contest "The Art of the Book". The contest featured 77 books from Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. In the 19-year history of the contest, Kyrgyzstan won 1 million rubles for the first time in the "Grand Prix" category.


According to the contest rules, the winning book in the "Grand Prix" category will be printed and distributed free of charge in the CIS countries using the prize money.


So far, among the CIS countries, in the international "Art Book" competition, publications such as "Manas Kyrgyz Heroic Epic" in the Kyrgyz language; "Ballerina"; "Art for Children"; "Flashes of Thought" and "the Girl’s Book" have been awarded diplomas of the 1st and 2nd degrees and special awards.


More than 50 publications by the Foundation are unique, including works translated into Kyrgyz for the first time, colorful and interesting postcards, calendars with reproductions of works by famous Kyrgyz artists, and the Foundation's own books. The publishing activities of the Foundation have been recognized as the best publications of world and national literature for children and youth.


Every project represents another step towards our dream of a strong, educated, culturally developed, and economically stable Kyrgyzstan, where all peoples live in a spirit of good neighborliness.
