Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Imangali Tasmagambetov presented the position of the CSTO countries on Afghanistan to Roza Otunbaeva, Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Afghanistan and Head of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA). The members of the organization support a peaceful and terrorism-free Afghanistan, according to a statement published on the CSTO website.


CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov held a working meeting with the UN Secretary General's Special Representative for Afghanistan and Head of the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) Roza Otunbaeva at the CSTO Secretariat on April 8.


The Special Representative of the UN Secretary General Roza Otunbaeva informed about the main directions of the international assistance provided under the auspices of the United Nations for the interests of peace and stability in the region and for the reintegration of Afghanistan into the international community, shared observations on the course of internal political development of the country.


The CSTO Secretary General emphasized that the CSTO member states support the establishment of Afghanistan as an independent, united and peaceful state, free from terrorism, war and drugs.
